I hope that bump in business is still holding.

RKN has a formula that I find agonizing, this episode’s no exception. First, break the crew down so they’re no longer resisting change. Then introduce the reform that would move their business in the right direction. Host a launch, fueled by Ramsey’s popularity and locality. Then watch as all their new-found confidence flies out the door as they’re bombarded with negative criticism from guests who are waiting on unrealistically long cues due to the infancy of the kitchen or wait staff.
It’s all for good drama at the expense of the restaurants good image. Very self-serving to the production of the show. Tell me this: have you ever watched one episode of a Ramsey-hosted show where the contestants actually served a meal in a timely manner? How is that actually a habit-reinforcing exercise?
I don’t care what exposure this restaurant thinks it’s gained from being on this show. It’s eclipsed by that buffalo wing toss of the sous chef, and Ramsey’s discovery of the putrefying meat everywhere. I really want this family to survive and work out the deeper problems. As a customer, however, how do you forgive that? “well, the last time I was there there was dirt on my buffalo wings, and my shepherds pie tasted like biohazard. But I sure got a hankering for shepherds pie tonight!” Just doesn’t work that way.

I saw a reference this restaurant was the only one which didn’t apply for the season. The chef applied to be on Hell’s Kitchen and was rejected. However, someone with that process remembered him and suggested contacting them for inclusion (program diversity).
They were apparently doing OK. About all RG did was to apply some tough love to tone down the arguments between the family members.

James’ comments are so off the mark, he does not even get the show. How could you not notice how “nice” Gordon was to this family. Normally he would have ripped that chef’s (the son) head off and a major fight would have insued. All warranted. But this episode, Gordon was so polite and nice and he actually had the Chef come back the next day. He came in, gave them great food to make, brought in the customers, and they made money! When Gordon leaves a restaurant, if they don’t continue to succeed, it is always their fault. It just goes to show you how most people can’t deal with criticism even if it is there to save their asses. Maybe they all should watch a few episodes of his shows before they meet him. Maybe then they can understand how his passion is and his advice should never be argued with. The dude is a genius and anyone who argues is a moron. I hope someday he comes to help me open my restaurant here in Pleasanton, CA. Because if he did, I would be guaranteed 20 years of success and profit.

Why is the chef in this trying his best to look like a Irish leprechaun? Weird. The Dad was a sweety

This was one of my favorite kitchen Nightmares episodes. The chef just need a little kick in the butt and attitude adjustment by Ramsay and they are doing well again.
