May 2005, Shortly after the broadcast of the Lanterna episode many vegetarians including the Vegetarian Society said they will now boycott Gordon Ramsay restaurants and food after the shown ill treatment of a vegetarian when they ‘accidentally’ gave him Parma Ham hidden underneath mozzarella and tomatoes on a pizza. May 2008, I decided to give the UK a jolly old call, I contacted the doctors clinic shown next door to Lanterna.
The receptionist didn’t know much about what happened or when, but she confirmed it has closed down and where the restaurant was is now a vacant lot.
I’ll try contacting a few other businesses around the local area for more information

Just found your website. I work in Letchworth Garden City and can confirm that the Laterna restaurant shut down not long after filming and is still empty. If you want I can take a picture of it.

Sorry to see the restaurant failed because Alex seemed genuinely proud of the end result; delicious, rustic Italian food. He looked more relaxed and seemed to not mind spending 4 additional hours with food preparation - what a shame it didn’t work out. Best of luck Alex!

Just watched this show today. Very sad that Alex wasn’t into the Restaurant scene. Having the best teacher in the world Gordan Ramsy how could one NOT at least try… to do their best.

I think Alex likely got complacent and all the bad habbits start to resurfaced. Ramsay did predict that Alex himself is the biggest obstacle to the restaurant’s success. Too cocky and not enough skill to back it up.
