November 2006, Gordon Ramsay returns to film the revisited episode, while he found that the business had become extremely successful he was shocked by how much the quality of the food had dropped to incorporate the large number of customers, and he later compared Momma Cherri’s to a fast food joint.
November 2007, BBC News reports Charita Jones fears the restaurant may close because it has become too big to handle. More Info
January 2008, The Daily Mail reports Momma Cherri is closing, ‘unable to deal with spiraling costs and debts of £200,000′ and after getting legal advice Charita has put the company into administration. Charita said she had been sending letters to Ramsay asking for help but her letters have gone answered. More Info

Judging from Dolph Itler’s name and URL, I think it may have been intended as somewhat of a sarcastic post. Just a guess, but someone with that name is probably not meant to be taken seriously. Whether or not it was in good taste, or even humorous is arguable (and you won’t get much argument form me if you say no to both), but I don’t think there is much point in chastising someone named [H]itler for making racist comments.

The food was good and Clarita had great sales skills. The failure was caused by greed. Expanding too quickly without proper planning. She is not lazy, she works so hard in the kitchen. A bad manager but she is not slacker.

MR313, SteverB and others are right; LMO and the others should be ashamed. They’re not, as we can plainly see, but they should be.
It is nothing but pure racist stereotype to use those words just because the color of her skin. I’m betting LMO and the others couldn’t work 1/2 as hard as Cherri.
Cherri was one of the hardest working owners on the show. Her food was evidently great, but she had a management problem. That made her automatically better than 90% of the rest of the restaurants featured on Ramsay’s show. Cherri was also one of the nicest owners.

I feel sorry for Momma she had a good run with it but it caught up.
To viv szabo: she calls herself “Momma”… if she called herself “Clare” I would call her Clare. There is nothing racist in calling someone by their chosen name. However, perhaps you do have a point that has to be raised with her: can’t expect respect if you dont have your bearings right.
Finally, one fresh idea I had this morning:
Setting up a company with 20 or so fans of the show to set up a restaurant under the understanding that we have hours of footage of what is and is not acceptable.
A twist could be given by having webcams all over for the shareholders to see and possibly post them on the website. Nothing should go unchecked. Keep it simple, keep it good, and get on with it!
If the restaurant works I would offer 5% share to Gordon Ramsay in exchange for the “responsible” use of his name a whatever assistance he wants to give.
And then, with a successful formula, franchise it!
Any investors out there at 10,000 pounds a 5% share?

These comments are clearly clouded by racism. She worked hard- but not smart. She was doing all the work of her employees! Plus she grew too big too fast. She has no management skills. But to attack her physically- interestingly no other owner linked has been attacked like this- is really inappropriate.

I think if her daughter takes over and she has some help, she may be able to run the restaurant the way it should be run. Hope for the best and good luck to her.

Soul food should NOT be served in a bowl. I don’t care if it is pleasant to look at, it is certainly not the way it is presented in the American South where soul food originated. In fact, it’s part of the experience.
