I went to their website to look at their menu. Listed was:
Two courses for two people including a glass of house wine £10
Add an extra course for £4.00 per person
Add seasonal vegetables or chips for £2.50
At the current time the exchange rate is about $1.60 to one pound. Thus, two courses for two people were about $16. Not great, not bad. Howver: Extra course $6.40 PER PERSON. Seasonal vegetables or chips were $4.00 (apparently PER PERSON). Now the chips (and probably vegetables) probably cost them $.25, so quite a mark up.

That one guy would have been fired in an instant. As soon as he would have told me, the owner, that I was “breaking in” on his conversation about who was to do certain functions, he’d have found himself out the door.

scharabo,
In the UK, those aren’t bad prices. I was shocked myself when I went there last October (2008) how expensive it is to go out and eat.
